Riverside College’s Higher Education provision is celebrating after achieving a prestigious Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) Gold award in recognition of their commitment to delivering outstanding teaching, learning and outcomes for their students.
TEF awards were introduced by the Government in 2017 to provide information about the performance of the higher education sector in the UK. The awards measure excellence in three areas; teaching quality, learning environment, and the educational and professional outcomes achieved by students.
The TEF award summary recognised Riverside College’s “provision of extensive and sustained opportunities and challenges for ensuring that students from non-traditional backgrounds achieve their full potential” and an “embedded institutional culture that facilitates, recognises and rewards excellent teaching, leading to frequent and consistent student engagement”.
The Gold award is also a symbol of the College’s ethos of believing in the power of education to enhance and transform people’s lives.
Helen London, Head of Teacher Development and Higher Education at Riverside College said, “Achievement of the Gold award is credit to the hard work and commitment of our students and staff. We are very proud of this award and of our College community.”
Riverside College’s Higher Education provision has gone from strength to strength after placing in the top 6 colleges nationally for student satisfaction in the 2018 Higher Education National Student Survey.
The College offers a range of degree level HNC, HND, Foundation and Top Up courses in subjects including Counselling, Education, Computing, Health & Social Care, Sport and Engineering.
