Merseyrail has confirmed that it will be putting on early morning trains for runners taking part in the Liverpool Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon later this month.

The race, which takes place on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th May, sees thousands of people fill the streets of Liverpool where rock laid its roots.

In previous years, Merseyrail has run a normal service, but due to the early start of the Marathon and upon receiving feedback from passengers, the rail operator has confirmed that earlier trains will run.

The additional services are as follows on Sunday 26th May:

  • 06:53 from New Brighton
  • 06:59 from Hooton
  • 07:01 from West Kirby
  • 07:06 from Hunts Cross
  • 07:07 from Ormskirk
  • 07:08 from Southport
  • 07:13 from Kirkby

Andy Heath, Managing Director for Merseyrail, said: “The Liverpool Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon is a fantastic and hugely popular day in the Liverpool City Region’s calendar, and we want to make it as easy as possible for runners and spectators to attend.

“These early trains will get our passengers into the city centre from across the region with plenty of time to prepare and focus on the race ahead. Best of luck to all taking part – Merseyrail are rooting for you!”
