International law firm Taylor Wessing has announced plans to open a new office in Liverpool in the autumn, as a focal point for innovation and client service

Taylor Wessing will be investing in its business by launching a new office in Liverpool to support its future growth and development. The new office will deliver legal and business services with a focus on reshaping service delivery to adapt to changing client needs.

This complements the firm’s long-running initiatives that maximise use of technology for client collaboration and efficiency.

The office will launch in September, initially with a small number of new legal service roles as well as local operational support. The firm is also proposing to move its Business Acceptance team, a key function that the firm will be investing in to meet the increasing demands of the business and regulatory environment.

The new office will provide a vibrant work environment and a catalyst for the development of new working practices.

Over the autumn, the firm will continue reviewing its operations to assess how the office should grow to support its ambition to be a world class global law firm.

Liverpool is an ideal location for attracting talent and supporting long-term career development. The city and surrounding region has a high volume of experienced people and excellent universities. It is a thriving and progressive city, with an excellent infrastructure, as well as economic benefits that will enable the firm to reinvest more in its people and technology.

Managing Partner Tim Eyles, commented: “We work with our clients in dynamic, expanding markets and our service delivery must evolve to reflect that. Having enjoyed a period of strong growth, I’m pleased that we can continue our upward curve of investment in future operations.

“This is about providing a catalyst for long-term reinvention to continue to deliver a better service, being smart with our resources and continuing to invest in more people – we will need them. Liverpool is a vibrant city that, like Taylor Wessing, provides an environment which enables creativity to thrive.”

Mayor of Liverpool, Joe Anderson, who is overseeing an unprecedented investment boom in the city, commented: “It is fantastic to welcome Taylor Wessing, a successful and expanding international firm to Liverpool. The firm’s decision to locate here, like the Royal College of Physicians and many other prestigious organisations, further underlines the private sector’s growing confidence to invest in our city.

“Taylor Wessing engaged warmly with us during the process of choosing their new operation location, so we have got to know them well and we are looking forward to this union going from strength to strength.

“The recent International Business Festival demonstrated Liverpool’s energy as an attractive and progressive city and I’m sure Taylor Wessing’s creative reputation will make for an excellent addition to our business community.”

Ellen Cutler, director of Invest Liverpool, said: “To attract a major firm such as Taylor Wessing is wonderful news for the city. Invest Liverpool has developed a close working relationship with the firm during the decision-making process, and we look forward to continuing and growing this relationship as it commences its Liverpool operations.”
