We are delighted to announce the promotion of five legal directors to partner with effect from 1 May 2019.
The promotions are split across the firm’s three core business groups, with three promotions in marine, trade and energy, one in health and one in business services.
The newly promoted partners are superyachts lawyers Thomas Frei and Alex Teji in marine based in the London (West End) office, commodities and cargo lawyer Claire Messer in marine based in the London (City) office, health lawyer David Hill, who is also based in London (City), and private client lawyer Susan Sherry of the Liverpool office.
Thomas Frei specialises in superyacht transactional work and advises clients in a range of services including construction projects, refit contracts, sale and purchase agreements and finance of new-build and pre-owned yachts.
Alex Teji advises a diverse international client base of UHNWIs on all aspects of superyacht acquisition and ownership, with particular prominence in the Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and South East Asian markets. Alex’s promotion follows his appointment from senior associate to legal director in May 2018.
Claire Messer joined the firm in 2001, initially focusing on subrogated cargo recoveries and transportation matters, before broadening her expertise in the field of charter party and commodity trade disputes.
David Hill specialises in the practice of public law, primary care, information governance and regulatory proceedings. David has been providing advice to clients in the health and social care sector in England since 2007.
Susan Sherry advises UHNW private clients on all aspects of inheritance and capital gains tax issues and succession planning. This includes the drafting of wills, powers of attorney and trusts. She advises settlors, beneficiaries and trustees on trust formation, trustees’ duties and trust dissolution. Susan also deals with complex Court of Protection cases.
