Leading commercial law firm Hill Dickinson is celebrating a double win at the 2019 Liverpool Law Society Legal Awards, having beaten off strong competition to pick up this year’s Property Law and Commercial/Corporate Law Awards.

Over 300 of the region’s leading legal professionals gathered at the Titanic Hotel’s Rum Warehouse on Friday 17 May for the awards ceremony, which is regarded as one of the highlights of the region’s legal events calendar.

The awards recognise the achievements of the society’s member firms and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to legal services or shown excellence in innovation or client service.

Hill Dickinson had been shortlisted in five separate categories, confirming the firm’s reputation across the North West as a full service law firm.

Craig Scott, national head of corporate at Hill Dickinson, collected the Corporate/Commercial Law Award. The Liverpool headquartered law firm has triumphed in this category every year since 2011, winning the award on all five occasions at the biennially held ceremony.

Commenting on his team’s win, Craig Scott said: ‘We are delighted to be awarded the Corporate/Commercial Law Award for 2019. As a firm, we have continued to invest in the growth of our Liverpool team as a base of excellence for corporate and commercial services. Recognition by our peers for the quality of the work our corporate team does locally and nationally means a great deal to us.’

Alex McCann, head of Liverpool property, collected the Property Law Award, marking the third time Hill Dickinson has won this award since 2013. He said: ‘Winning the Property Law Award is testament to the strength and calibre of our Liverpool property team. We are immensely proud that our work has been recognised in this way by the Liverpool Law Society.’

President of the society Chris Topping congratulated all those who had taken part, saying: ‘It is always great to celebrate the excellent work of the members of Liverpool Law Society and to hear of the impact which lawyers in our region make locally, nationally and across the world. The awards evening once again showcased the talent and gave us an opportunity to recognise those doing amazing work in firms both large and small.’

Liverpool Law Society represents around 2000 members in practice, making it one of the largest local law societies in England and Wales. Membership is broad and varies from practitioners engaged in high-value commercial work to property law, dispute resolution and complex charity work.

The awards ceremony was hosted by Roger Johnson of BBC North West Tonight.
