National Engineering and Transport Planning consultancy Curtins has this month relocated its Head Quarters to a new location in Liverpool City Centre.

The move comes as a result of the company’s exponential growth over recent years. Founded by Bill Curtin in 1960, the company started life as a small consultancy in his Liverpool home, before moving into office space on the iconic Rodney Street and opening a further 13 offices around the UK.

Demonstrating ongoing commitment to its staff and founding city, the new move sees the engineering firm relocate 60 staff from Curtin House on Columbus Quay, where they have been situated for over 20 years, to the former Merseytravel HQ at 51-57 Tithebarn Street. Curtins has completely remodelled the 11,000sqft building to create a modern, inspiring workplace.

The company has been responsible for the engineering of a number of iconic buildings throughout Liverpool, from the renovation of the Albert Dock in 1982 to more recent projects ranging from under to over £100m, across all sectors. Current work includes large mixed-use developments; Paddington Village, Pall Mall, Liverpool Waters, and Wirral Waters.

Moving its expanding operation to a city centre workspace means the company can now progress with its evolving business plans for further growth and development across its seven specialisms of Civils & Structures, Transport Planning, Environmental, Infrastructures, Geotechnical, Conservation & Heritage and Principal Designer.

Curtins’ Chief Executive Rob Melling comments:

“We’re really excited to be taking over this great space in Liverpool City Centre where the Curtins story began 60 years ago. I think that Bill, our founder, would be very proud of this achievement – I certainly am. Our National Team is now nearly 430 people strong and this move is symbolic of that progress.”

During his visit to officially open the office, Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson said of the move:

“Curtins is a great Liverpool business success story and its growth over the decades is a shining beacon in how investing in and nurturing local talent will reap its rewards. I was honoured to be asked to open their new headquarters and help celebrate the start of the next exciting chapter in their history. Curtins is playing a huge role in the transformation of Liverpool and these new headquarters are a huge statement on their commitment to Liverpool and their confidence in the ongoing regeneration of the city.”
