A RIGHT royal day of fun in Birkenhead is being planned to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday.
A street party in the iconic “street scene” setting of Pacific Road is being held on Saturday, June 11
– just as the country marks the monarch’s official birthday with a day of pomp and splendour.
The event, to raise money for The Prince’s Trust, is being organised by Progress to Excellence, the
Birkenhead training provider whose national headquarters is housed at Pacific Road, the former arts centre and heritage tram museum now operated as a business hub.
A team from Progress to Excellence is currently taking part in The Prince’s Trust Million Makers challenge to raise money for the organisation whose programmes help and support vulnerable anddisadvantaged young people all over the country.
With an entrepreneurial idea, business plan and money-making skills, they are competing against other companies in the region to raise a minimum profit of £10,000 for The Prince’s Trust. All proceeds from the street party will go towards their target.
Sandra Kirkham, managing director of Progress to Excellence Group, said: “Our Million Makers team has embarked on a huge challenge to raise money for The Prince’s Trust.
“With the backing of the people of Birkenhead, we hope the street party will be a massive fundraiser for them.
“The Pacific Road street scene is a perfect setting for what will be a fantastic day to celebrate the Queen’s birthday.”
The event, which runs from 11am-4pm, is being supported by Birkenhead First, an initiative part of Birkenhead Improvement District’s aim to bring the town back in the public eye in a positive way.
There will be live music and other entertainment, craft stalls and refreshments.
Admittance is £3 for adults and free for children under 14. Free parking will be available at the rear of Egerton House, Tower Road, Birkenhead.
