To celebrate Catch the Bus Week (2nd – 8th July), Arriva is inviting people in Liverpool to nominate a local community group, who will have the chance of winning a free day out this summer with Arriva Buses and Merlin Entertainments.

Nominations open on 25th June, just before the start of Catch the Bus Week, and members of the public can visit arrivabus.co.uk/ctbw to tell Arriva why their local community group deserves an amazing summer day out, courtesy of Arriva Buses. The prize, sure to be a day to remember, includes return travel on an Arriva Bus and attraction entry, thanks to Merlin.

Arriva is encouraging all types of local groups of any age to enter including Scouts, Cubs, Brownies, Girl Guides, youth clubs, sports and athletic clubs, theatre groups, choirs, over 50s, arts, walking and book groups.

Nominations close on the 13 July, and a shortlist will be drawn up for each Arriva region taking part. Then, from 23 July, people will have the chance to vote, via the Arriva website, for who they think deserves the summer day out.

The winning group in the North West will be announced on the 3 August. Then, during August, the North West winners will enjoy their fabulous day out at The Blackpool Tower and SEA LIFE Blackpool, transported by an Arriva bus.

Lisa Pearson Head of Marketing for NW & Wales Arriva explains: “We are very excited to launch this search for fantastic community groups who really deserve to be rewarded with a great day out this summer. Anyone who is part of, works with or just knows about a local group, please tell us why they should win this. Maybe it’s a drop-in centre, a kids sports group or a local charity for older people. We want to hear about as many good causes as possible.

“We wanted to run this alongside our Catch the Bus Week activities because the annual event is an industry wide celebration of bus travel. This is a great time of year to remind people that using the bus to get to fun local attractions can be a cost-effective and stress-free way for the family to travel.

“I personally cannot wait to read the nominations, I am sure it will be a tough job to choose the winners. Good luck everyone!”
