The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, supported by the Liverpool City Region LEP, has started the process of developing a Local Industrial Strategy that will set the course for future economic development across the city region.

The strategy will identify the key strengths, challenges, opportunities and threats in relation to the city region’s productivity and future prosperity, and will plot a way forwards that delivers inclusive and sustainable innovation-led growth.

Our Local Industrial Strategy will complement the government’s Industrial Strategy and the four Grand Challenges it outlined on artificial Intelligence and data, ageing society, clean growth, future of mobility.

Consultants SQW/Amion, are currently undertaking an initial review of the evidence base, including data, existing strategies and a targeted selection of interviews with key stakeholders.

The findings from this initial research will inform strategy development and consultation through the autumn with a view to completing the strategy in Spring 2020.

Liverpool City Region Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram said: “The Local Industrial Strategy is our opportunity to shape future economic development across the city region to ensure that we can deliver growth that benefits all of our residents.
We are very much at the start of the process and all options are on the table. We are looking forward to consulting with businesses from across the city region’s economy to inform a final strategy that works for everyone.”
