A group of influential travel operators from the USA and Canada have just spent three days exploring Liverpool.
From the Trade Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators, ‘Ensemble’ help encourage new visitors through reviews and recommendations to their members and vast customer base, they are one of only three trade associations in the USA.
Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership, which encompasses VisitLiverpool, the city’s official tourist board, presented to their conference in America last year, which resulted in this trip, and Liverpool was the only UK city they visited.
The visitors stayed at Hope Street Hotel, and their stay included a trip to the Cavern Club, Tate Liverpool, The Beatles Story, Magical Mystery Tour, Anfield VIP tour and they enjoyed dinner in the Anglican Cathedral. Although their highlight was probably the live recording of ‘Love Me Do’ at the SAE Institute!
Duncan Frazer, Commercial and Marketing Director at Liverpool City Region LEP, said: “It was a real coup getting such prominent visitors to the city and the feedback from them has been incredible.
“The next step is to look forward, with The Beatles interest being so strong in the USA and Canada we will be able to engage with their members particularly around the 50th anniversary of The Beatles historic first trip to New York next year, when they appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show and played Carneigie Hall.”
