Leading industry event The Manufacturer Live is coming to Liverpool City Region, it was announced yesterday at the House of Commons (Tuesday 21st February, 2017).

The LEP, working with key public and private partners including the local authorities; Liverpool University; Liverpool Johns Moores University; Hartree Centre; Sensor City, and Liverpool Convention Bureau, amongst others, played a pivotal role in bringing the event to the City Region which is expected to welcome over 500 delegates over two days in November.

Made up of a series of interlocking events which will form Digital Manufacturing Week, SMEs will have the opportunity to meet over 4,000 of the UK’s high-growth manufacturers, industrial accelerators, hardware-startups, finance and 4IR (4th industrial revolution) solution providers.

Commenting on what the event means for the region, Sector manager for Advanced Manufacturing at the Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) – and one of LCR4.0 project partners, Simon Reid, said: “This is fantastic news – the LEP and partners presented a robust and compelling case on why Liverpool City Region is such as a fantastic location and I am delighted that our City Region that has been chosen as the destination for this year’s event.

“Having The Manufacturer Live in Liverpool will reinforce the Liverpool City Region as a location synonymous with manufacturing excellence. Our City Region is often thought of for its rich maritime and cultural heritage but our manufacturing history is equally as strong. Over a quarter of a million cars are made here every year and we are also home to the Europe’s biggest bio-manufacturing cluster. We are also at the forefront of digital manufacturing (4IR) as evidenced by our £8million LCR4.0 programme and have the unique assets of The Knowledge Quarter (including Sensor City and the Materials Innovation Factory) and Sci-Tech Daresbury on our doorstep. Working with local companies to unlock innovation and improve productivity. Indeed, manufacturing productivity in the Liverpool City Region is 7% higher than the national average.”

Simon added: “Having The Manufacturing Live here in the City Region means local firms will have one of the UK’s foremost industry-specific events right on their doorstep, showcasing cutting edge technology and thought leadership in manufacturing.

This is hugely powerful; normally businesses in the Liverpool City Region would have to travel to the other end of the country or even abroad to access such an opportunity.”

The Manufacturer Live will be at the Exhibition Centre, Liverpool from 14th – 17th November 2017. More information can be found here
