Liverpool City Region LEP signs Northern Powerhouse Agreement

Northern Powerhouse Minister, Andrew Percy, today (Thursday 8th December) signed an agreement with Liverpool City Region LEP to officially become a Northern Powerhouse partner.

By becoming a Northern Powerhouse Partner, Liverpool City Region LEP has joined more than 40 other organisations that have signed up by pledging their support. The partnership aims to champion the North’s strengths, as well as promote local developments across transport, skills and innovation, culture, and devolution

Asif Hamid, Interim Chair of the Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership said: “Liverpool City Region is integral to the Northern Powerhouse – and very much its global gateway – and that is why the Liverpool City Region LEP are signing this agreement today.

“The prospects for our City Region and the North of England are outstanding. We will only realise our assets and opportunities and drive our productivity and competitiveness to its potential by securing the right level of investment in our infrastructure. We will do that by working together with a shared ambition, a clear evidence base and sharp focus – that is why it is so vital for us to work together across the North of England and with Government on the Northern Powerhouse.”

Asif added: “The LEP has a vital role to play in facilitating this collaboration and ensuring businesses are fully engaged in determining how best to drive the Northern economy forward.”

Northern Powerhouse Minister Andrew Percy said: “We are determined to back business growth across the Northern Powerhouse to create an economy that works for everyone. We have some of the best businesses and talent in the world.

“So I’m delighted that Liverpool City Region LEP and over 40 leading businesses are signed up and raring to go to make the most of all the region has to offer, in a real show of force for the North.

“Our new dedicated Northern Powerhouse website allows potential investors to see what fantastic opportunities there are in the North and showcase all it has to offer.”
