Looking forward to her involvement in the summit Priya Lakhani OBE, CEO of CENTURY said:

“I’m excited to be speaking at the Digital Summit in Liverpool City Region today to talk about how we are using artificial intelligence, data science and cognitive neuroscience to improve students’ learning outcomes.

“I’m also looking forward to hearing from some of the innovative companies that are in the City Region and how technology is creating such a vibrant economy.”

The event has been delivered by the Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and supported by the LCR Activate programme.

Steve Rotheram, Metro Mayor of the Liverpool City Region, said:

“As Metro Mayor I have had the opportunity to see first-hand how we, as a city region, are leading the way across a range of emerging and transformational technologies.

“Whether it is big data, virtual reality, artificial intelligence, the internet of things, autonomous systems, or augmented reality – we are at the heart of innovation.

“This Digital Summit is an opportunity to bring the people involved in that innovation together, to share experiences and ideas and hopefully encourage even greater creativity for the future.”

Also, in conversation at the event is Vanessa Bakewell, Entertainment Vertical Lead for Facebook who will be speaking about the importance of inspiring and retaining our next generation of talent through digital skills.

Hosted this year by Gadget Show presenter Georgie Barrat, the summit builds on the success of last year’s event and will again blend the national digital and createch agenda with the best and brightest of our city region’s tech sector and other key stakeholders to find out about the latest developments and solutions to key challenges and opportunities.

Paul Corcoran, MD of Agent Marketing and Co-chair of the Liverpool City Region Digital & Creative Board said:

“Since its launch in 2017, our goal for the Digital Summit has always been to foster innovation and collaboration by bringing together pioneering businesses and innovators who are at the forefront of developing the City Region’s digital future – and this year is no exception. Today’s event is also an opportunity to hear from some exceptional speakers who are leading the way in tech. Their valuable insight into the ever-changing digital sector and incredible experience will provide delegates with realistic, engaging and no doubt inspiring food for thought.

“I’m incredibly proud to be a part of this event and have no doubt that it will be an extraordinary day full of energy, expertise, and enthusiasm.”

In addition, the summit will feature contributions and key-note presentations from speakers including Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram; Cllr Phil Davies; Professor Paulo Lisboa from Liverpool John Moores University, Daniel Winn from Vodafone, and Ann Williams from Liverpool City Council. Other sessions will include workshops on how tech can help change lives; growing tech businesses in the City Region and financing your growing business.

Prof Paulo Lisboa, Project Director of LCR Activate and Head of Applied Mathematics at LJMU, said:

“Emerging technologies, such as augmented reality, artificial intelligence and machine learning, are driving the creative and digital sectors. However, many of today’s innovators – especially start-ups and small businesses – lack the access and expertise that they need to be able use these new technologies to their full potential. That’s where Activate comes in.

“This year’s Digital Summit provides the perfect opportunity for businesses across the region to get to grips with these technologies, witness them in action and discover how they can grow their business.”
