Every suicide has a huge impact on the people we serve. The emotional and social effects are enormous, but the economic cost is significant too – at over £1.3 million per suicide.
To tackle this important issue head on, Liverpool City Region Metro Mayor, Steve Rotheram and his Mayoral Adviser for mental health, Luciana Berger MP are launching a campaign to reduce the level of suicide in our city region. They are working with our leading mental health trust Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust and The Zero Suicide Alliance (ZSA) to help our city region become the most active suicide prevention region in the country and lead the way on tackling mental health issues head on.
To launch the campaign businesses in Liverpool City Region are invited to attend an event during the week of World Suicide Prevention day.
Businesses will be asked to commit to staff undertaking the Zero Suicide: Basic Awareness training free of charge on the Zero Suicide Alliance website.
