Over 200 businesses within the Liverpool City Region have benefited from the LEP’s New Markets Programme with support totalling over half a million pounds for local commercial services.

The New Markets programme provided a method for established SMEs to access high value commercial business advice and support, to assist them with their growth plans. These included services such as financial advice, legal advice, and strategic development including marketing and sales development.

Part funded by the European Union, the programme was developed by the Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) working with local partners across the City Region.

Mark Basnett, Executive Director, Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) said: “The programme has been a great success, helping 200 SMEs to grow, with support totalling £500,000 towards a total of over £1.5m of commercial services procured from across the region.

“We know that business owners and directors can be unaware of the support available to them when looking to take their companies to the next level. Our New Markets Programme has equipped 200 local businesses with the tools and support to grow and invest which will ultimately create more jobs and contribute to the economic success of the Liverpool City Region.”

Mark added: “Helping businesses to grow and thrive is at the heart of our Enterprise Strategy. SMEs make up a large part of our business community and their growth is essential for the future prosperity of our City Region.

The New Markets Programme ran from October 2013 to October 2015.
