Government Minister Mark Prisk visited the Liverpool City Region LEP yesterday. (Wednesday 8 August 2012)

The Minister of State for Business and Enterprise was welcomed by LEP Chair Robert Hough.

Mark Prisk joined LEP Board Members and other business leaders to discuss opportunities for business, innovation and entrepreneurship in the City Region.

Robert Hough said: “LEP’s are the Government’s base camp for activity in the City Regions. We have the eyes and ears of Whitehall watching and listening and today’s meeting with the Minister of State provided a valuable opportunity to discuss initiatives including the drivers for growth, access to finance, skills and cohesion within the City Region. The Regional Growth Fund was also considered.”

Earlier during the visit the Minister toured a local business whose bid for Regional Growth Fund assistance was supported by the LEP.

Robert Hough added: “The LEP has worked with a number of businesses to support their bids for the RGF and their success in securing funds allows them to expand their operations here.”
