Liverpool Businesess Excel at National Awards

Three local tourism businesses have picked up national awards at the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2014.

National Museums Liverpool scooped a gold award for ‘Tourism Experience of the Year’ with ‘Titanic & Liverpool: the untold story’. Hope Street Hotel picked up a silver award for ‘Large Hotel of the Year’ and Delifonseca Dockside were highly commended for the ‘Taste of England’ award.

These awards are presented by the country’s national tourist board. They celebrate success and excellence across the tourism industry and are a showcase for England’s best tourism products.

These three businesses have also been shortlisted in the Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards, taking place on 22 May at St George’s Hall, which recognise those who have contributed to the City Region’s tourism offer over the last 12 months.

Pam Wilsher, Head of Visitor Economy Development for the Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership, said: “It is a huge achievement for these tourism businesses to be shortlisted for these awards, but to do so well on the night really shows just how far the City Region has come in terms of our tourism quality.

“This week we will celebrate the very best of our tourism offer locally. Those businesses who all do a wonderful job in providing a very warm welcome and delivering a first class product to visitors.”

For the local tourism awards this week – National Museums Liverpool (NML) are shortlisted for ‘Large Visitor Attraction’ for the Museum of Liverpool and the ‘Business Tourism Award’ for NML Trading. Hope Street Hotel are shortlisted for ‘Hotel of the Year’ and Delifonseca has been shortlisted for ‘Taste Liverpool’.
