Brilliant Liverpool Tours Ltd has been trading since 2014. It was formed by Blue Badge Guides Claire Rider and Neil McDonald offering coach & walking tours in the Business to Business sector. The company has grown is now well established & are members of UKinbound.
Claire previously worked as the Marketing Manager at National Museums Liverpool for 13 years & taught business studies, marketing, and tourism, in Further Education and in Apprenticeships
Neil, a bi-lingual French Speaker, and former BT Customer Service Manager has worked as a winter & summer resort Manager for several U.K. travel companies in France. Neil has worked extensively as a driver guide & as a Tour Manager throughout the U.K. & Europe and as a local guide for the Magical Mystery Tour, City Explorer and as a RIBA Guide. Neil also has a coach driving qualification.
Neil and Claire set up the extremely popular Liverpool Beatles Walk www.beatleswalk.com in 2013 which has taken 3 years to get to break-even and is now thriving & now includes a range of exciting combination tours with the Beatles Story, Radio City Tower, British Musical Experience & Mersey Ferries. Claire also established the Comedy Coach Tour.
The Blue Badge Guiding course in 2013 was funded by the Liverpool City Region Local Economic Partnership – was first 1 for 10 years, though there was only 1 language guide on the course.
In October 2017 Neil and Claire attended World Travel Market and after feedback from in-bound Tour Operators and exhibitors decided to change strategic direction to train International Guides for Liverpool, and target taking groups to Chester, North Wales and further afield from Liverpool.
In November 2017 they received funding from Liverpool Skills for Growth Fund with support from Liverpool LEP and Marketing Liverpool/Visit Liverpool to run an International Tourist Guiding Course for city centre coach guiding and their own tours including Beatles walk
10 April 2018 at the Liverpool City Region Tourism Members Meeting Pete Sandman, Head of Liverpool City Region Tourism, will award the course certificates, and this will be the launch of their International Guides. The Guides being able to deliver coach and walking tours in 8 languages:
