The private sector-led Liverpool City Region delegation to MIPIM has revealed its full schedule for MIPIM 2018, the international property conference taking place 13th – 16th March.

The delegation will be its biggest ever, with 39 partners and strategic leadership from Liverpool City Region Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram and acting Chief Executive Frank Rogers, supported by Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson, Asif Hamid (Chair of the Liverpool City Region LEP), Eric Robinson (CEO of Wirral Borough Council) and Max Steinberg (CEO of Liverpool Vision).

One of its key messages will be to emphasise the breadth of investment opportunities across the city region. Adopting the theme of ‘global connections’, the Liverpool stand will play host to three events where Liverpool City Region Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram will host conversations with high-profile guests.

The first of these will be with Peter Moore, Liverpool FC’s Chief Executive, a conversation which is expected to attract a large audience to the Liverpool stand.

This is followed by a discussion with Andy Street, Metro Mayor of the West Midlands Combined Authority, and then another with RIBA President Ben Derbyshire.

Liverpool’s waterfront is a recurring theme of the programme, with a number of European cities participating in sessions looking at how places can develop and utilise their waterfront assets and their investment potential.

There will also be updates on a variety of developments around the city region, including Paddington Village, the wider Knowledge Quarter and Liverpool and Wirral Waters.

Sean Beech from Deloitte, who is the chair of Liverpool’s MIPIM delegation, said: “We’re in final countdown mode for MIPIM, and I’m looking forward to taking our largest Liverpool delegation to Cannes. We go in confidence, with our City Region leadership and an extended events programme. On a personal level, I’m thrilled that we have so many events linked in with other cities and UK Government – Metro Mayors Steve Rotheram and Andy Street; Amsterdam and other waterfront cities; Northern Powerhouse collaboration; north west science clustering – all with a view to generate growth, jobs and prosperity for our city region.”

“MIPIM is an extremely valuable event for the city region’s businesses, and this is the strongest and most varied delegation we’ve ever had. The fact that each year we are joined by more representatives from the private sector shows its value, and I think the programme of events we have in 2018 will again ensure that the Liverpool stand is extremely popular and we can show them what investment opportunities lie here.”

Steve Rotheram, Metro Mayor of the Liverpool City Region, said: “MIPIM is one of the most important events for us to be at, attracting investment and building relationships on a global scale. Each year we are joined by more representatives from the private sector, and I think the programme of events we have in 2018 will ensure that the

Liverpool stand is again extremely popular. We have a strong message about a united City Region where private and public partners are working together to use devolution as a launch pad for growth and prosperity.”
